Iain has gone from a rewarding career in the British Army to an equally rewarding role as a foster carer. He's now been fostering for 13 years: “Am I fulfilled as a foster parent? Absolutely!”
It is not just Iain and his wife, Karen, who have benefited though.
“Our biological children have found it to be a great experience. They have now lived with other children from different parts of society. Our foster children are full embraced into our family unit.”
The couple specifically chose to foster teenagers, stating that it can often be their last chance at a normal life before they become adults.
They appreciate that it can be a scary place when you do not have a role model and believe that the best qualities you can offer a child are: “to be a good listener, confident, caring and empathetic.”
