Festive cheer at annual Christmas party

Tuesday 20 December 2016

Almost 100 children and their families enjoyed this year’s Christmas party for Essex adopters.

The event was supported by Adoption UK and a number of families undergoing assessment for adoption also gave up their own time to help.

Families took part in a number of fun activities and games, as well as enjoying a children’s entertainer, fun photo booth and festive drinks and snacks. However, the highlight of the afternoon was undoubtedly the appearance of Father Christmas and his able assistant, the Elf.

Adoptive mum, Sam said: “We loved the Christmas party. “It was such a fun event for our children and also a great opportunity to catch up with social care staff who've helped us and the adopters we've met along the way. “We've found mutual support between adopters is so important and events like these help facilitate that.

“A lot of parents keep in touch with their NCT group of parents and meet up at this time of year to celebrate another year gone by. This event meant we could do the same with those who we started the adoption process with, which is lovely.

“It's also great that we can tell our children that everyone in the room got a new mummy or daddy at some point and how many children are just like them.” The annual Christmas party is just one example of the excellent, local support network available to adopters in Essex.
